Listen to the sermon from May 14, read Colossians 2:6-15, and consider the following questions:

  1. What are you depending on to provide the freedom, worth, and value that you crave? What are the “Jesus ands” in your life?
  2. What does Paul say you need to grow as a Christian (vv. 7-8; Gal. 3:3)? Why do you think we feel the need to add to the finished work of Christ?
  3. What is the difference between being filled in Christ and “salvation” offered by other religions and philosophies of the world (vv. 8-10; cf. 1:15-21)? How can you meditate on the fullness that you have in Christ?
  4. What is the relationship between circumcision in the Old Testament and baptism in the New Testament (vv. 11-12; Gen. 17)? How do these rites point to the grace of God for you in Christ (vv. 13-14)?
  5. In what way does the cross publicly shame demonic rulers and authorities (vs. 15; 1 Cor. 2:6-8)? How does all that Paul says in this passage speak to the sufficiency of Christ for you?
