Discussion Questions: Your Only Savior
Read Isaiah 43:1-11 and consider these questions:
- What is the most frequent command in the Bible? What does the frequency of that command say about God’s knowledge and concern for you and your fears?
- What is the relationship between the creation of man and God’s redemption and formation of the nation of Israel (vs. 1; Gen. 2:7; Ex. 6:7)? How do these words describe your salvation and the formation of His church?
- What do the metaphors of fire and water frequently represent in the Bible (vs. 2; Gen. 6:13, 17; Ps. 66:12; Ps. 69:1-2; Dan. 3:8-30; Lk. 17:26)? How is the Lord’s promise to be with you in the water and fire a comfort to you (Rom. 8:31-39)?
- What ransom does the Lord promise to pay for Israel’s deliverance (vv. 3-7)? How does Jesus pay the ransom for your salvation (Mk. 10:45; Gal. 3:10-13; 2 Cor. 5:21)?
- What does the Lord indicate is the purpose of God’s people (vv. 8-11)? How does the church reflect that today (Acts 1:8; 1 Pt. 2:9)?
